Can you go to jail for downloading on LimeWire?  Huh According to a news article I read yes you can!  Some of you have read the post regarding Lawsuits issued by Charter on behalf of Arista Records last December.
http://support.mycomguys.com/index.php?topic=216.msg550#msg550 Fines are not all you can be charged with if you are not careful!  Cry

In an article on Live leak a 22 year old was downloading porn and "Accidentally" downloaded Child porn  Shocked

'Accidental' Download Sending Man To Prison

Matthew White, 22, said he was surfing for pornography two years ago on Limewire -- a fire sharing application that allows users to trade music, movies, games and pictures -- when he discovered that some of the files he had downloaded were images of children.

Matt claims he quickly erased the files.

"It didn't appeal to me," he said. "I was looking for women my age"  However a year later the FBI arrested him.  He could be facing 3-20 years in prison.  Once his sentence is done he will be a registered sex offender from now on.  If you think Limewire is safe, think AGAIN!  For more of the article and video:

The HITECH ACT PDF Print E-mail
Written by My Com Guys

There is alot of buzz about the HITECH Act, and the 19.2 Billion in Government funds available to mandate Electronic Medical Records.  This will have a huge impact on how medical information can be passed between offices and hospitals to a national standard.

For Medical offices this could pose a huge obstacle to overcome in addition to their already hectic workday.  Offices are being forced into an electronic age that is quickly evolving at light speeds it seems.  However, this is an opportunity for offices to streamline their system to save them money and benefit from the ACT.

The draw back is, all the standards are not even set yet.  There is going to be a lot of "Fly By Night" Electronic Medical Records Programs poping up. They will either offer a very low price or ironicaly cost the same amount as the practice will recieve in grants.  Critical questions are will they be certified, and can they convert my existing data?  That is Key.  To be compliant the program has to be certified to meet standards that are not set yet.  Offices could be fined up to $250K for not being compliant.  There will  be a lot of software companies tying to capitalize on the requirement.  However, this is a prime opportunity for Medical offices to stream line their systems and make them more efficient and cut their expenses!

We Simplify the transition!  Some offices are not only going to have to add an electronic Medical system, but most are going to have to upgrade hardware and telecommunications.  We know how busy you are with your current responsibilities.  We will analyze your complete technology needs and help you achieve them with cost effective decisions.  You focus on what you are good at, and we will be good at what we do for you.  Once the transition is done, we will still be there for you.  We are your Personal IT Department.  It's like having your very own "Com" guy!
